SAARINEN EXHIBITION

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Award:
AIA MN Honor Award, 2009

The exhibit was developed to draw local attention to the project and to its architects, Eero and Eliel Saarinen. During the period of its design, Eero Saarinen collaborated with Charles Eames on a range of experimental projects, included molded plywood. The work can be found throughout the existing building and inspired the design and fabrication of the exhibit wall. The wall was designed to use its folds to be self-supporting. Perforations allow light to travel through the wall and provide a flexible mounting surface. Using digital and CNC fabrication methods, the wall was detailed to be easily assembled and disassembled.
